A child’s oral development is an integral part of their overall health. From infancy to teen years the oral cavity can have an effect on breast-feeding, food intake, speech, breathing, sleep, ability to focus, and confidence. At our office we like to see children once their first tooth erupts, around 6 months of age. This allows us to provide parents with essential information to help their child thrive, as well as catch habits and/or conditions that we can correct at an early age. Depending on your child’s age and cooperation, we may also take dental x-rays, clean your child’s teeth, and apply topical fluoride to help protect their teeth from decay. Whether your infant/child allows us to complete a full exam and cleaning or is not yet comfortable with us in their mouths, we believe that introducing the dental environment at an early age also helps to build trust and comfort, and helps to decrease dental anxiety as they age. Our team is gentle, patient, and caring, and your child’s trust is our number one priority.
